How to Help

It is critical that we increase community access to low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for cats, and to basic veterinary services for their ongoing care. Listed below are a number of ways you can help us do that—some don’t even cost you anything.

You can donate money.

Every dollar we receive makes a difference. Donations are the reason we can offer ultra-low rates for spay/neuter and wellness services, and also the reason we can offer financial assistance for those who need it.

Only by reducing uncontrolled breeding can we address the problems caused by cat overpopulation. Only by getting the population down to a more manageable level can we assure better quality of life and higher rates of adoption for those cats who remain.

Unless instructed differently, we will direct all donations into general funds where they will be used wherever the need is greatest at the time. Let us know if you would like your donation used toward something specific like emergency medical care, Trap-Neuter-Release, our Vets with Pets program, or if you would like to make your donation in the name of a person or cause that is important to you.

If you donate by clicking the button above and you would like your donation to be used toward something specific, you can indicate your preferences in the “add a note” box after you enter the amount of your donation.

If you prefer to donate via mail or by visiting us in person,
our address is:

Fix ‘Ur Cat

18 W. Pike Street

Canonsburg, PA  15317

You can volunteer.

Without volunteers, there is no Fix ‘Ur Cat—period. It is only because so many people have donated their time that we have been able to make a major impact on cat overpopulation in our area (currently doing nearly 2000 spay/neuters annually) and make basic veterinary care affordable to those residents in our community who struggle to afford the care that their cats need.

Whether you’re more of a people person, more of an animal person, or simply someone who wants to help, we’ve got a place for you and we’re happy to train you in any new skills that you might need along the way.

Whatever it is you’d like to do or would like to learn to do, we need you.

You can be part of our Purrrrrfect $10 program.

When we achieved the dream of getting our own building in 2018, it gave us the stable base of operations we desperately needed. It also gave us a whole new set of expenses, including a $500 monthly mortgage payment.

With 50 special donors pledging $10 per month to keep the doors open and a roof over our heads, we can direct more resources toward focusing on doing all we can to reduce the number of homeless cats in our community.

We welcome your help in the form of either a recurring $10 payment each month or a one-time payment of $120 each year. You can mail or bring in the payment directly if you prefer. If you elect to donate to the Purrrrrfect $10 program by using the button below, please mention the program in the “add a note” box after you enter the amount of your donation.

You can foster kittens or cats who need a safe, loving place to stay until they can be adopted.

You can be a sponsor for
our annual "Lucky Ones" lottery calendar.

This calendar is issued annually as a joint fundraising effort by Fix ‘Ur Cat and Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, both of Washington County. It is a vital source of funding for each. Sponsors of the calendar get considerable visibility since we make 1,000 of these available for sale each year. Buyers of the calendar get a chance at additional lottery winnings, so we normally sell out.

Sponsorships defray the expense of producing the calendars, making more of the proceeds available for our work toward reducing the number of homeless cats in our community. In exchange for a $100 sponsorship fee, you’ll get a listing in the calendar which includes your business name, location, phone number, online address, and a 30-word description. You’ll also be listed and linked on the Fix ‘Ur Cat website for an entire year. If you are sponsoring as an individual, your name will be listed, but not your personal address.

A sponsorship can also be made in memory of a loved one. Their name will be included in the calendar and on our website, creating a year-long tribute.

Our lottery calendars for the coming year go on sale as of August 1st, though advance orders are welcome. Act quickly if you’d like one, because they sell out fast. If you’d like to request a specific lottery number, those are assigned on a first-come/first-served basis, with preference given to those who have bought calendars before. We are happy to honor special requests for numbers not yet taken. Click here for a mail-in order form, and here for more information on how it works. Or you can go straight to our online store here.

You can eat!

Our main fundraising event of the year is our annual spaghetti dinner, held in early spring. You can get lunch and/or dinner, available to eat in or take out. There’s also an amazing array of baked goods and Fix ‘Ur Cat gear for sale, as well as a wide range of baskets to bid on for the Chinese auction in the evening. Stop in and join the fun—we’d love to meet you!

Contact Krys Soukup at (724) 416-3265 or fixurcat18@gmail.com if you’d like to be included on our contact list for this event.

You can bring us your aluminum bottles and cans.

You’ve probably been recycling your aluminum bottles and cans, but did you know that they are great donations for Fix ‘Ur Cat?

Just bring them to our Pike Street location and we can turn them into cash. It’s best to call ahead if you’ve never done this before so we can meet you or describe where you can leave them.

Just be sure that everything you donate is really aluminum. You can check any questionable items by seeing if a magnet is attracted to them. If your magnet sticks even a little, we can’t use it.

You can help us meet new grantors.

It takes a village … and grant partners have been an important part of that village for Fix ‘Ur Cat.

Our grantors have provided funding for surgical equipment, Buy-One-Get-One Free spay/neuters for cats cared for by senior citizens, and our Vets with Pets program that provides discounts for military veterans.

We are always looking for additional funding for these projects, and always interested in developing new programs that can be helpful to our community.

If you know of any organization (including your employer) that might be interested in becoming one of our grant partners, please contact Michelle Bruce at (724) 416-3265 or fixurcatinfo@gmail.com.
